Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who can book a charter?

     Anyone over the age of 18 can book a charter.

2. How do I choose a Captain?

     Once you decide where you would like to fish, you will have to decide on who to fish with. All Captains will be available online or by phone to let you know what is running and when you can go catch them!

3. Do I need a fishing license?

     Yes! However, Reel Drag Fishing will provide fishing licenses for everyone on board included with your charter.

4. What is provided?

     We provide all rods, bait, tackle, gear (to include your fishing license) and ice boxes to keep your catch of the day!

5. What should I bring with me?

     NO BANANAS! But you are encouraged to bring: Sunscreen (UV protection), as well as any food or beverages you'd like to have while on the trip. Captain JJ recommends a ball cap, sunglasses, rain gear (weather/temp appropriate clothing), camera and some type of cooler to take your catch home in if you plan to keep it! Please try to avoid dark soled shoes. If you will be fishing with children, check with Captain JJ for the availability of appropriate PFDs per size and weight, you are welcome to bring your own.

6. May I bring alcoholic beverages on the boat?

     If you are of legal drinking age, you may BYO Beer or wine. No hard liquor, No glass bottles. NO ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES PERMITTED.

7. May I bring my own fishing gear?

     Yes, you are welcome to bring your favorite rod and reel, but no worries, all gear is provided if you don't!

8. How many anglers are permitted on the boat?

     Coast Guard regulations limit our number of anglers to six (6). Four (4) is optimal for space and comfort.

9. What types of fish will we catch?

     Please refer to Captain JJ to see what is running and where!

10. May we keep our catch?

     Absolutely! Bring a cooler to bring your catch home, any fish you don't want will be released alive or become a nice dinner for Captain JJ and his family!

11. $$ Is tipping allowed for the Crew? $$

     Tipping is permitted and appreciated. Our prices include a 20% tip for the mate, so no extra money is expected on or after your trip!

12. What if the weather is bad?

     Captain JJ will remain in touch with you and make the final determination as to whether or not a trip may go. Every effort will be made to get you out fishing on your scheduled day or rescheduled for better weather conditions. Rain in and of itself will not necessarily cancel a trip, the fish are already wet! Your safety and a comfortable trip will remain our priority.

13. Are we guaranteed fish?

     No Captain can guarantee fish on every trip everyday. Stories of past trips don't always mean your spot will produce on any given day. Your charter is allowing you to be on a boat in a fun environment, with the potential of catching a large fish and telling the story of a lifetime! You can't put a price on family, friends and fishing stories!
